Event Report

On Sunday, April 21, owners of 12 electric cars, 2 electric-hybrid, 2 electric trucks, 2 electric motorcycles, and one electric bike transformed the Latzer Library parking lot in Highland into an electric vehicle showplace.

Owners from St. Louis and its suburbs, Washington County, Illinois, Springfield, and local towns of Troy, Pocahontas, Carlyle, Trenton, St. Jacob, and Glen Carbon participated.

Participants enjoyed the brisk spring day, exchanging experiences and explaining features of their vehicles. One Tesla owner treated the crowd to a car ballet, programming his vehicle to “dance” to the music of a classical piece. A Ford Lightning owner demonstrated the ability to charge other electric vehicles via his truck.

Vehicles made by Nissan, Kia, Chevy, Ford, Audi, Chrysler, Jaguar, and Tesla were displayed. Different sizes and styles were there; everything from a Nissan Leaf and Ford Mustang to a Ford Lightening. Visitors were able to compare several models of Tesla.

We thank the Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library for hosting the event, and the City of Highland City Council for approving the event.
