Event Report
Once again we had a wonderful turnout for Earth Fest 2024 and in particular the EV portion! Paul Douglas, a meteorologist and climate change activist from the Twin Cities, kicked off the event with a positive speech outlining what we actions we can take. He highlighted the importance of transitioning to electric vehicles several times during the course of his talk. The event itself had over 100 local vendors/organizations highlighting sustainability efforts in the area, including Alan Bergo a James Beard award winning forager chef from Menomonie. We had 20 EVs in the main parking lot, including the River Falls taxi which is a Kia EV6. The shuttle rides provided by the EV owners to the main event center were a big hit. In the main event center we also had a booth highlighting rebates and charging information. This is also where we displayed the wealth of information supplied by DEEM. Once again River Falls will be hosting a Drive Electric Earth Month (DEEM) event in partnership with Earth Fest 2024 and the River Falls Bluegrass Festival. Due to limitations in physical space for vehicles, we will be having several areas where current EV owners can interact with potential owners. We are looking for EV owners who would volunteer to:
- provide a short EV shuttle service to the event from parking lots
- display their EV outside the building
- staff a booth all about EV charging and rebates
