Richmond Moves will be powered by Via, the global leader in TransitTech. Via’s intelligent algorithms allow riders to book an on-demand ride to a nearby transit hub, and then directs them to a “virtual bus stop” within a short walking distance. Riders enjoy quick, efficient shared trips that provide more flexibility than traditional transportation options with fixed routes and schedules.

Richmond Moves is funded through the new statewide Clean Mobility Options Voucher Pilot Program (CMO). The project is part of the California Climate Investments (CCI), a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities. CMO is administered by CALSTART, in partnership with Shared-Use Mobility Center (SUMC) and the Local Government Commission (LGC).

Audrey Momoh, the District Director for Senator Skinner, and Robert Rogers, District Coordinator, from the Office of County Supervisor John Gioia were in attendance.  Denée Evans, Transportation Services Project Manager also highlighted the city's e-Bikeshare program which is operated by Gotcha Bikes.  Also, announced was the soon to launch, carshare program that is operated by Miocar, and made possible through the Charge Up Contra Costa project and funds awarded by the  California Energy Commission.
