We were lucky too tag on the “Mangawhai Easter Day Car Show” show with “Breakfast with the Cars”. Two for one to promote electric vehicles in New Zealand.
“Breakfast with the Cars” is a monthly event held by the Bay of Islands Classic and Hot Rod Club. Bob Bingham the club’s chairman is an EV enthusiast and drives an EV for his daily commute. He brings the two clubs together which is a great way to attract the public with Classic Cars on display alongside future EVs.
The war in Ukraine and high gasoline prices of over $3 NZD per liter ~ $8 USD per gallon has many Kiwis rethinking Electric Cars and the highest monthly EVs registrations on record for March 2022. This also highlights how directly transport is tied to big oil cartels.
“Mangawhai Easter Day Car Show” This is the 3rd year of the Car show with over 300 Classic and Hot Rod cars attending. Don Windley a local olive grower and Electric Car enthusiast invited us to display the future alongside the classic past. This was a big event with over 5,000 people in attendance. Don positioned us at center stage and we received constant foot traffic over the 4 hours of the event. Running this event is alongside a "mainstream popular event" reached many people that would not have normally been exposed to Electric Cars.
New Zealand is very was situated for the EV revolution with over 80% or our electricity generated from renewable source.
