Event Report

Our event was a great success! We were able to exhibit 22 electric vehicles and offer test rides and drives in Chevy Bolts, Tesla Model X and a Porche Taycan. Car owners or volunteers interacted with around 650 people who were curious about EV's. We think about 1,500 total visitors were exposed to electric vehicles.

In addition to the cars, two local bike shops, Foothill Cyclery and Wally's Bicycle Works, displayed an array of electric bikes and made them available for test rides. Over 40 attendees took a ride on an e-bike.

We were lucky enough to have some very interesting vehicle models including a Rivian R1T, a Mercedes EQS (thanks to Alfano Motors), a Hyundai Ioniq 5, and a Porsche Taycan, amongst many other beautiful cars.

Though the SLO Climate Coalition lead the planning effort and managed the event, many other organizations lent their support, including Central Coast Community Energy, Community Environmental Council, Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition, SLO County Air Pollution Control Board, SLO Council of Governments, City of San Luis Obispo, and Earth Day Alliance. They all helped promote the event, some had staff members there, and others provide support without which the event would not have been nearly as successful.

Join us for an ELECTRIC VEHICLE SHOWCASE and RIDE & DRIVE
 at the Earth Day SLO!


2022 marks the 51st annual Earth Day recognized in the United States. Earth Day is recognized in over 120 nations around the world. An annual Earth Day Fair has taken place in San Luis Obispo County since 1990 but had to be canceled the last two years. We are excited we will be able to gather in-person once again to recognize Earth Day and showcase electric cars, bikes and other green transportation modes as part of a larger event promoting actions to protect and preserve our environment for present and future generations. The Earth Day Festival and EV Showcase is made possible by the efforts and support of:
