Solar and EVs
Solar Power Your EV was a Zoom meeting hosted by the Blue Ridge EV Club, a affiliated chapter of the Electric Auto Association located in Western North Carolina. Joe Baum (secretary) moderated the meeting. Dave Erb, retired professor and automotive engineer, made the presentation and answered questions. The talk was about 35 minutes long with question & answer about 30 minutes long.
Thirty-nine participants were on-line during the event and ⅔ of the registered audience drive plug-in EV (per the registration data). (Note: Ninety-nine attendees registered.) There was a lot of engagement on the chat line and questions were taken from the chat including those about sustainability, photovoltaic orientation, cost, supplemental battery storage, panels on the car and grid interactions. A recording was made and posted to the Blue Ridge EV Club YouTube channel.

Dave Erb, retired professor and automotive engineer, providing insights on electric vehicle energy demands and solar energy fundamentals.
An electric vehicle can be the gateway to a more sustainable lifestyle. Many have found that installing solar panels is the next step.
This Earth Day, the Blue Ridge Electric Vehicle Club celebrates the tremendous synergy between electric transportation and energy from the sun. This online event will address "What does it mean to run an EV on Solar Electricity?"
What is the difference between energy and power? How much energy does a solar panel produce? How much do I need? What does it cost? This talk will take a look at the basics. There will be ample time for questions and answers from attendees (submitted with chat feature).
Presenting will be Dave Erb, retired automotive engineer, EV enthusiast and owner, EV drag racer, and Mechatronics lecturer from UNC-Asheville.
Driving with sunshine is a feeling of freedom. You can have this too!
