Event Report

Even though we had a smaller NDEW event last fall, April 30th, 2022 marked 3 years since the Blue Ridge EV Club had hosted an in person outdoor Drive Electric Earth Day event at the Asheville Outlets.   Thanks to our hosts The Asheville Outlets and many sponsors and supporters like Land of Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Sugar Hollow Solar, and WNC Tesla Owners Group, we came back with an electrifying jolt.   With 50 + electric vehicles on display including a Rivian Truck, a Polestar II, Volve XC40, Mach Es, a Smart For Two EV, a Ford E-Transit,  Ioniq 5s, ID.4s, EV 6s, a RAV 4 PHEV, many Teslas, an Ipace, some classics like the original Leaf, 2012 Volts, the old faithful Chevy Bolt, the atmosphere was fun filled and electric!    In addition, there were one, two, and three wheel e-scooters, bikes, including the Huck moped/motorcycle locally made in our very own North Carolina.  Local university students with the Critical Services Microgrid brought their renovated solar electric golf cart to add to the fun.  Organizers from nearby areas such as Tennessee and the Triad area of NC also attended.

Some quotes from the participants:

"Congratulations to DriveElectric. Their electric vehicle show at Ashville Outlet Mall was a huge success."

“ this was a great event today…everybody was really jazzed to talk about their electric vehicle…so many good conversations…a big thank you to the organizers for a job well done…”

“Thanks to everyone who put this together, spent time talking aoub their EVs, letting us sit and look inside and share personal experiences. Really appreciate these events!”

“It was good fun. People were very generous with their time to come and educate others about their vehicles."

Even the local news channel was excited about the event:

Event Description

Come out and see electric vehicles from old to new.  Learn why EVs are becoming mainstream.

In addition to electric cars, you can check out the latest in personal electric transportation vehicles: electric bikes and bicycles, electric scooters, electric skateboards, hover boards, One Wheels.

Local solar installers will show you how to save money on solar while powering your EV with the sun!

We are asking those who can bring some food stuffs for Loving Food Resources, a local food pantry. May people continue to have the need for basics and this type of food drive-car show has been successful in the past. See the list below and come with your contributions.

• Meet members of the Blue Ridge EV Club and Tesla Owners of Western North Carolina groups
