Event Report
EV Mississippi's Spring Drive Electric Event took
place on April 23 from 10am until 2pm. It was located in Hattiesburg in front
of PetSmart on Highway 98.
We partnered with PetSmart and the Hub City Humane Society to combine a pet adoption event with an electric car show. There was food, pets, raffle prizes, test drives, and activities for all ages. Vendor booths included: EV Mississippi, Tesla Club of Mississippi, Mississippi Power, Tesla (out of Jackson, MS), Solar Alternatives, Hub City Humane Society and Southern Pines Animal Shelter. The Hattiesburg city fire department also attended to allow kids to checkout the firetruck and learn about hybrid and electric vehicles. Food vendors in attendance were Twillie Philly, Kona Ice, and Rosie’s Ice Cream truck. Two raffles took place at the end of the event with the grand prize being electric scooters. The first raffle was comprised of car owners that took part in the static car show, and the second raffle was drawn from individuals that completed test drives and completed their Pre and Post surveys. Goodie bags were provided to car owners and to children throughout the duration of the event, and donuts and cold drinks were available to volunteers and attendees.
Overall, there were 32 vehicles that participated in the static car show, and around 225 individuals that attended the event. Many people stayed for the entirety of the event, while others came and went. There were 2 car dealers onsite performing test drives, Tesla with a Model Y and Nissan with a Leaf.
