Event Report

The Ride & Drive EV Showcase event in Cookeville, TN was a roaring success. Located in the Sam's Club parking lot, the event attracted a wide variety of folks in a rural area in Tennessee who may not have ever had access to hands-on experience with an EV.

We were fortunate enough to display a wide range of electric vehicles, including multiple Tesla Model 3s, Nissan LEAFs, a Chevy Bolt, and a plug-in hybrid electric Ford F-250 pickup truck. The hybrid pick-up truck was of particular interest to event attendees. Visitors also enjoyed the opportunity to drive a Tesla Model 3.

The event attracted nearly 120 directly engaged visitors in addition to the 14 drivers who volunteered their time and vehicles, all of whom enthusiastically shared their passion for transportation electrification with attendees in a wide variety of demographics. We completed nearly 20 ride alongs, 6 or 7 of which were drive-based experiences.

Additionally, we garnered a good amount of attention from Sam's Club visitors who might not have stopped to talk with our vehicle owners and experts. We were located near the parking lot entrance, next to an Electrify America charging station, so we were also able to educate visitors on EVSE infrastructure.

This event was presented by DriveElectricTN, a program of East Tennessee Clean Fuels, in partnership with Dr. Pingen Chen at Tennessee Tech University and Tara Wohlgemuth at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
