Event Report

Drive Electric Earth Day 2021 in Las Vegas was staged on Saturday, April 17, at the Springs Preserve Museum parking lot from 10 AM to 4 PM.  An outdoor electric car rally attracted 48 vehicles and about 125 visitors.

The Springs Preserve parking lot complex features a covering of bi-facial solar panels, that track the sun during the day and indirectly provide electricity to two dual-port ChargePoint Level 2 charging stations.  

The event also included a portable solar trailer with battery back-up system for lighting and two SunnyBoy inverters that could provide 110 VAC or 240 VAC for additional EV charging.

Local automotive dealerships included Autonation Volkswagen, who featured a new Volkswagen ID4 electric car, and Audi Las Vegas, who brought two Audi e-tron electric cars to show.

Other exhibitors included premium sponsor NV Energy, as well as the Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association, Las Vegas Tesla Owners, Robco Electric And BSA Electronics.

Event Description

 

Drive Electric Earth Day 2021 will be celebrated in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Springs Preserve museum on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 10 AM to 2 PM.

An electric vehicle rally will be staged in the outdoor parking lot under a photovoltaic solar panel array that tracks the sun and provides electric power to two ChargePoint stations. 

The event will feature displays of electric vehicles accompanied by their owners, who can answer questions about their daily ownership experiences. Exhibit booths will also provide educational information about the benefits of owning an electric car.

Exhibitors will include experts from a local electric utility, as well as companies that can provide and install electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), that includes EV charging stations, rooftop solar power, energy storage systems, public charging station network locations, and more. 

Event sponsors and supporters include the Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association, NV Energy, Robco Electric, Tesla Owners Group of Las Vegas, BSA Electronics, and more.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, that is projected to still be present within the USA during 2021, this event will be staged in alignment with guidelines from the Center for Disease Control, as well as Nevada state, county and city requirements, in order to mitigate the continued spread of this virus.

Attendees to this outdoor electric vehicle display event will be required to wear facial masks and practice six-foot social distancing. Temperature screening will be required at the entrance to the event, along with completion of a health questionnaire.  

Sanitizing supplies will be available at every exhibit table, as well as at the ChargePoint stations and entrance.
