Event Report

Big thanks to Jim Kelly and daughter Erin for organizing today’s EV Ride & Drive at Sinclair Automotive Center, a new location for Drive Electric Dayton, and to all the EV owner volunteers for their enthusiasm despite the cold and drizzle. We gave a number of visitors a ride and/or a drive in an EV or plug-in and answered their many questions. We were pleased to familiarize an Ohio State Representative with the joys of electric motoring!🚘

Event Description

You're invited to join us Saturday April 20 from 1:30-5 p.m. at Sinclair Community College Automotive, 220 South Edwin C Moses Blvd, Dayton, Ohio 45402.  Sinclair Automotive is a fantastic venue for the Ride n Drive. We have plenty of off street parking and the building will be open for bathrooms and vending.

As a member of Drive Electric Dayton, you're encouraged to participate by bringing your electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid for all or part of the afternoon. Here's what you can do:

  • Offer a test drive: You can share your enthusiasm for EVs by taking visitors on a test drive. Visitors will sign a release and you can accompany them on a short ride near Sinclair.   This is the perfect opportunity for people interested in EVs to learn about them directly from a car owner. Once people ride and or drive an electric vehicle, great things can come out of that experience.

  • Offer a test ride: Not every visitor will want to drive but they will be interested in riding in your car with you behind the wheel. It's another way for them to experience EVs.

  • Display your car: Park your EV in the large parking area of Sinclair Automotive for all or part of the afternoon, pop the hood and talk with curious visitors, who no doubt will ask you questions about your car and what it's like to own an EV.

  • Charge your Car:  We have two J1772 chargers available for free so please take the initiative and demonstrate vehicle charging.

Our Earth Day Ride and Drive event will happen rain or shine. Any amount of time that you can spend with us will be so appreciated, even as little as 1 hour.   So please plan to attend.

In addition to cars and drivers, we can use other help to greet visitors at our booth and to help match visitors with EV owners who are offering test drives or test rides. Again, we can use your help for all or part of the afternoon. None of the jobs is difficult. You'll be sharing printed information with visitors and asking them to sign the release forms if they're going for a test ride or drive.
