Event Report
The Juneau Event was the official unveiling for the 1st EV charging station for a Fred Meyer Store in Alaska. The EV Charging Station comprises two (2) Level 3 chargers and two (2) level 2 chargers free to the public for use while shopping at Fred Meyer. Juneau is unique in its public-private partnership in that most charging stations are free to the public but the installation, operations, and maintenance costs are picked up by private entities.
Mayor Beth Weldon read off a City and Borough of Juneau proclamation commemorating Juneau's participation in the 2019 Drive Electric Earth Day. The proclamation and the Juneau event was covered by local news media and radio stations. Juneau is ranked 3rd in the Nation in per capita of EV ownership. Juneau continues to grow both private and government usage of electric vehicles that is cleaner and more efficient to operate.
The Fred Meyer charging station has quickly become a heavily used charging station in Juneau.
