Event Report

The EV display was sub-section of the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association's Earth Day observance in Bellevue, WA. The EV display was located in front of the plaza parking lot entrance to the King County Library System's Lake Hills Branch which is located in the SE corner of the Lake Hills Village neighborhood shopping center. One of the EVs which was on display was a Model 3 whose owner had driven it all the way from Yelm, WA (65 miles) to participate in this Drive Electric Earth Day event.

The EV display was limited to 4 vehicles, but the Association was so excited to have 5 EVs show up that they made special arrangements to include the EV which had not been registered for display. The plaza parking lot was busy the entire time with a noticeable number of people arriving in LEAFs and Teslas.

The relatively intimate nature of the event allowed more time for the EV drivers to talk with the individuals who stopped to ask questions as well as share early adopter EV war stories with one another. One of the general public who stopped by was from Tasmania, Australia. A mother who drives several pre-schoolers to school and home was most interested to learn about the Dodge Caravan plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). An owner of a Hyundai Clarity PHEV was excited to learn of the various opportunities to interact with other EV owners via Seattle area EV blogs, Facebook EV groups and the Seattle Electric Vehicle Association's monthly meetings.

Another EV display activity which received a round of applause at the end, was a demonstration of the Tesla Model X's ability to perform to music -- always a crowd pleaser.

A steady stream of people going to and from the King County Library System's Lake Hills Branch stopped to ask questions of Chad Schwitters, a past President of Plug In America.
