Event Report

The Sierra Club/Wakarusa Group and the Sustainability Action Network organized a two-part event for Earth Day. We had nine EVs join the traditional Earth Day parade, followed by an EV showcase adjacent to the park where Earth Day was being celebrated. In theory we represented 11 EVs, because one of the Tesla 3 drivers has a Nissan LEAF that was in our NDEW show last September, and the Tesla X driver has a Mercedes B-Class B250e that also was in our NDEW show last September. But they could drive only one car at a time! And another of the Tesla 3 drivers had attended our NDEW show last September, and based on his experience at that show, he bought his Tesla one month later.

Event Description

Who doesn't love a parade?!  Electric Vehicle owners are invited to be in the Earth Day Parade along Massachusetts Street and ending up in the parking lot just south of the Courthouse and north of South Park to display their vehicles and answer questions to Earth Day Celebration visitors.

The U.S. transportation sector now produces more climate warming emissions than does the electric generation sector.  Plug-in EVs are zero carbon when charged with renewable energy, and greater efficiency means lower carbon, even when charged by coal-fired electricity.  EVs get 100mpg equivalent or better, and the driving range of various makes is from 100 miles to 315 miles.

Come see a variety of electric vehicles (EVs), talk with their owners, and learn the advantages of driving an EV.  They're smooth and quiet and fun to drive, with high torque and instant acceleration.  Maintenance for EVs is cheaper, with no I.C.E. engine, transmission, distributor, starter, clutch, muffler, or catalytic converter.
