Event Report

This event was held in conjunction with the South Sound Climate Action Convention, so we had an attendance of about 350 people, but most were fully engaged in the conference. There was one session on EVs, which let out onto our DEED event. Of the total parking for the convention, about 15% were EVs and PHEVs. Nearly all were attending the convention; very few came just for the DEED event.

We had about 5 unregistered cars. We marked the parking area for "EV Parking" and conference attendees with plug-in cars who were NOT registered for DEED dutifully followed the signs. This included State Representative Beth Doglio, who just drove her Leaf into our area, looked around for about 10 minutes, then went in to give a keynote address.

We had miserable wet windy weather, which dampened our spirit. People did not gather in the EV area; they went inside where it was warm, and there were cookies.

Event Description

Please join us at the South Sound Climate Action Convention for a full day of workshops and discussions about how to address climate change through local activism.  This is the fourth year for the Climate Convention.  The convention is all day Saturday, April 13, at Olympia High School.

As part of the Climate Convention, we will have a designated EV parking area in the Carlyon Avenue parking area near the North entrance to Olympia High School.  During the lunch break, EV owners will be available to answer questions about their cars, and in some cases, offer ride/drive opportunities.

Registration for the Convention is NOT required to participate in the Drive Electric Earth Day event in the parking lot.  But registration is only $35, including snacks, lunch, and great workshops, so consider joining us for the full day.

Please register to attend using the RSVP button at the top of this page.
