Event Report

Newport, Oregon, put together a fantastic Drive Electric Earth Day event that was well attended. Toyota of Newport cleared a portion of their sales lot so we could fill it with electric cars. Not only was there plenty of room for cars and people, but we had prime exposure to busy Highway 101. Central Lincoln PUD provided a free hamburger or hot dog for the first 200 participants from Phill's Smokn Grill set up onsite. Coastline Auto Detail featured a Tesla Model 3 that was newly ceramic coated along with a Toyota pickup in various stages of ceramic coating. One Tesla Model 3 showed his camping setup with a small refrigerator hooked up in the trunk along with a blender for smoothies.

The festive event had 24 EVs, somewhat fewer than expected due to weather forecast but the rain held off for the show. Several EV ownes also dropped in during the show. We had the Electrica Meccanica Solo prototype, a new one-person EV. Tesla was well represented including the Tesla mobile service team. Display cars included the Chevy Bolt, Arcimoto, Kia Soul EV, Smart Electric, Nissan LEAF, Honda Clarity PHEV, and Prius Prime PHEV. People were able to drive the Chevy Bolt, Tesla Model 3, and Tesla Model X.

Central Lincoln PUD and Coastline Auto Detail provided t-shirts for the drivers and vendors at the show. Oregon Beach Vacations donated a two-night stay at one of their properties and Coastline Auto Detail provided car care products as door prizes. We consistently heard participants say that they appreciated the knowledge and advice available on hand from the EV owners. We're certain some of these folks will be buying EVs in the near future. Our thanks for everyone's support to make this a successful event.
