1 hour 39 minutes

This 2019 documentary film, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, focuses on the rise of Formula E electric car racing. Formula E is capturing the eyes of millions while showing spectators that EVs are high-performance vehicles.

SCIENCE FICTION

EVs are no longer a thing of our imagination. Here are the sci-fi movies that got the world's electric future right!

Demolition Man (1993)

R | 1 hr 55 min

Demolition Man is a 1993 American science fiction action film directed by Marco Brambilla in his directorial debut. John Spartan, a risk-taking police officer, who has a reputation for causing destruction while carrying out his work. After a failed attempt to rescue hostages from evil crime lord Simon Phoenix, they are both sentenced to be cryogenically frozen in 1996. Phoenix is thawed for a parole hearing in 2032, but escapes. Society has changed and all crime has seemingly been eliminated. Unable to deal with a criminal as dangerous as Phoenix, the authorities awaken Spartan to help capture him again.

FUN FACT: In 2020 Elon Musk, promoted the 90s sci-fi flick via his official Twitter account, simply saying, "Watch 'Demolition Man”. Presumably, the entrepreneur was impressed by the accurate prediction of self-driving electric cars.

GATTACA (1995)

PG-13 | 1 hr 46 min

Gattaca is a 1997 American dystopian science fiction film written and directed by Andrew Niccol in his filmmaking debut. The film presents a biopunk vision of a future society driven by eugenics where potential children are conceived through genetic selection to ensure they possess the best hereditary traits of their parents. The film centers on Vincent Freeman, who was conceived outside the eugenics program and struggles to overcome genetic discrimination to realize his dream of going into space.

FUN FACT: This film features classic cars from the '60s whoosh around almost silently, making only cool electronic noises. The cars inspired U.K.-based RBW to create the RBW Roadster, an all-electric model based on the classic MGB sports car.
